DEFENDING EUROPEAN CHAMPION Michael van Gerwen produced the kind of performance that could see him clinch the title for the third year in a row with a second round demolition of Gerwyn Price on Saturday.
The world number one, who survived a match-dart against Simon Whitlock in round one, made it easier for himself in round two as he reached Sunday’s quarter-finals with a 10-2 triumph in Hasselt, Belgium.
The Dutchman fired in nine 180s, missed double 12 for a perfect leg and averaged over 105 in a dazzling display.
The win sets up a last eight clash with Jelle Klaasen, with the semi-finals and final also following on Sunday.
