WORLD NUMBER ONE Michael van Gerwen has revealed his pride at his domination of the PDC’s European Tour ahead of the last event of 2016.
The Dutch ace has picked up victories in six of the eight events he has entered this year, eclipsing his previous record, and he is determined to end his European campaign with another triumph.
“I’ve been doing really well on the European Tour for the last couple of years,” said van Gerwen ahead of this weekend’s German Darts Championship in Hildesheim.
“I really enjoy the format and most of the venues are closer to home than the UK events so it feels a bit more like a home match for me.
“I really want to win the last one to bring the European season to what I think will be a deserving end for me and then I will have my eyes on winning the European Championship.”
van Gerwen faces Robbie Green in the last 32 on Saturday.
