MICHAEL VAN GERWEN will take on Daryl Gurney in the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship after a 4-1 win against Darren Webster on Thursday.
The world number one moved a step closer to becoming World Champion for the second time with another impressive victory, in which he treated the crowd to a 170 checkout.
“I feel good,” said 2014 World Champion Van Gerwen, who hit eight 180s and averaged over 104 in his defeat of Webster.
“I struggled at times and Darren played really well but I know I can play under pressure and I showed I can do anything at the right time.
“I’m the winning man and that is what matters. The only thing that counts for me is winning this tournament and I’m now one step closer.”
van Gerwen takes on Gurney on Friday, when the semi-final line-up will be completed.
